Reddish chestnut beer, reasonably clear but full of yeast spots that seem to be fixed in suspension; white head with reddish shine. End of bottle is very nearly solid yeast. It has some bready smell German style, but even a lot more dark brown candi sugar; sweet and alcoholic. Very sweet taste, gradually fading as if mildered by a bitterness that just doesn’t come out. Bread and walnut notes - like walnutbread, but much more sweet. In the end I get somehow raspberry extract. Very full bodied MF, slick, viscous even. Aftertaste is nutt again. No genuine German Doppelbock is just THAT sweet. But I agree, it comes close. Rid of this raspberry syrup flavour, and they’re there.
