Fuzz Lord is a collab with Monolord, the kings of doomy riffs raised from Göteborg's muddy clay and Signature Brew from East London, mainly known for their music inspired beers and band collaborations with Mastodon, Millencolin or alt-J, just to name a few. This Distorted Black Ale might be dark and strong, but in the same time as intensely juicy as a NEIPA with very low bitterness and no roasty flavours at all. True to its enigmatic personality, super fresh 2018 crop Australian Enigma hops take the lead here solely through whirlpool and multiple stage dry hop additions with a tiny bit of Mosaic and Citra in the supporting roles. With its dry hop ratio of 19 g/l and an overall of 23 g/l hop addition, this is Poppel's hoppiest beer ever.

Draught at De Molen. Dark brown color, red glare, medium sized tan / beige head. Aroma is malts hops. Flavor is malts, hops, dark malts, the combination is balanced which is the most important thing for me in a black IPA. Decent to medium body and average to decent carbonation. Very nice. 8-4-8-4-17.

Strong black IPA by Poppels in collaboration with Signature Brew, an English brewery renowned for its collaborations. Draught at 'Cause Beer Loves Food. Creamy, regularly shaped, pale greyish beige, papery lacing, slowly dissolving head over a lightly hazy very dark bronze beer, close to black but still translucent under bright light with mahogany hue. Aroma of fresh pink grapefruit, fermenting black tea, hard caramel, mango cubes, damp forest floor, fresh liquorish, cooked egg, orange juice, pine resin, stewed onion. Sweet onset, mango and orange notes, fig, light gravy-ish umami accent, soft carbonation, full and viscous mouthfeel. Thick toffeeish malt sweetishness with nutty edges, quickly drenched in aromatic, tropical hoppiness again reminiscent of mango and exotic citrus with liquorish- and pine-like side notes, long but relatively softly bitter, still sufficiently drying though, accentuated by some warming, gin-like alcohol. Nicely aromatic, distinctive, bittersweet BIPA with clear NEIPA influences, different but with some mild off-flavours in the background. Very interesting.
