Bottle from Aldi; opaque dark chestnut brown pour with a thin beige head, caramel and rum aroma, taste is brown sugar sweet with a hint of rum and wood, not a porter.

Bottle at worldbeertaste’s temporary leaving The Hague tasting. Poured a clear dark brown with a reddish hue and a frothy off white head. The aroma is overripe fruit, malt and slightly alcoholic. The flavour is medium sweet, light bitter, with a light fruit hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. I didn’t dislike this but I expected more.

Bottle shared. Pours clear treacle brown with a small tan head. Aroma of oak, treacle, malt. Flavour is over moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

330ml bottle at home. Pours clear brown, no head. Treacle and not much else on the aroma. Treacle and not much else on the taste. Fizzy like a soft drink. Sweet.

(Bottle, as "Winter Treacle Porter") Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, slightly fruity nose with dried fruit, toffee, chocolate, dark bread, vanilla and treacle. Malty, roasted taste with notes of chocolate, dried fruit, raisins, oak wood, vanilla, toffee, treacle and a balanced spicy bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and well made with a gentle oak wood character. One of the best I&G beers I’ve tried. Nice one.

11.2oz bottle. Stained glass burgundy-brown body. Thin, off-white head. Sweet, odd raisin, prune, brown sugar aroma. Has that odd-raisiny rum thing going on. Really booze forward, but not much depth or richness. Quite thin for a Porter. Grows on you, but not one that will earn many accolades while being judged to style.

Bottle. Creamy off-white good mostly lasting head. Red amber colour. Moderate malty and hopy aroma. Some roast and rum. Moderate bitter flavor. Rum too present. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate.

Clear 330ml bottle: Treacle Porter on the label. Poured into a Westmalle chalice at home on 26 Nov 13. The colour was pleasant enough, a mahogany red, clean and clear, the head dissipating a little too quickly for me. Very, very sweet in both the nose and taste: malty molasses completely dominate everything and treacle seems to be the main flavour from those molasses, the front label claims treacle is actually added to the brew. I like the sweeter, maltier brews, but this was too much, even for me. It may well be matured for 39 days, but adding too much treacle hides whatever the maturing was supposed to bring out, or put in. Managed to drink it all of course, but I’ll not be seeking out another in a hurry.
