Tasting at the ever gracious ChrisO’s. Lightly hazy deep amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry. Fine carbonation. Light papery malt, little bitterness. Whisper of dark chocolate. Dry papery finish. Too papery and bland.

Bottle at Chriso’s. It pours near black with a bubbly biege head. The nose is roasted malt, toast earth, dark fruits, prune, plume and spice. The taste is toasty, roasted malt, earth, spice, pepper, earth, slightly watery and ash with a very dry finish. Light-medium body and moderate carbonation. Very drying. So-so.

500ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Roasty, burnt dark malty aroma, hints of coffee, old coffee, burnt coffee beans, a minimally smoky touch. Taste is roasty dark malty with subtle sweetness, hints of liquorice, some oxidised hop. Contains a lot of flavours one expects or hopes for in a porter, but in this case not in a tasty state.
