The original Jessenhofke beer, which later became Jessenhofke Tripel and eventually Jessenhofke TRPL. Uses garlic.
Drink matig doch regelmatig.

The original Jessenhofke, now with the ’Tripel’ added, spiced with garlic. Creamy, medium thick, sticky, off-white head, orangey peach blonde colour with brownish hue, cloudy. Fruity and yeasty nose, orange, honey, mint, melon, coriander, brown sugar, no garlic at all (which is fortunate, perhaps). Restrained fruity taste, mineral-like with medium carbonation, light maltiness, subdued spiciness, dryer in the finish with some resinous, herbal hops and warming alcohol, and again the garlic is unnoticeable. Perhaps it should have been more prominent, then this beer would have been less boring.

33cl Bottle from EkoPlaza. As TRPL. Slightly hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of garlic, floral notes, pale malts, fruity. Flavour of garlic, malts, nice sweet floral touch, firm bitter finish. Medium-bodied, firm carbonation. How is this beer any different from their Pimpernelle? Btw garlic in beer is not a good idea IMHO.

Clear golden with bubbly, medium sized head. Grassy, some yeast, unripe vegetables, lemon, herbs, light malts and lots of herbal hops. Taste is a bit sweet with quite of lot of bitter. Medium bodied, full carbonation. Not a typical triple, quite OK, but slighty to ’green’ tasting for me.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BBE 11/05/13, at Cafe Thembi, 20130605) The beer poured golden and hazy. Its head was quite large and white. Aroma had fruitiness, tangerine and honey. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, citricness, hops, sweetness, honey and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. A nice hoppy tripel. I didn’t notice the garlic at all.

Hazy golden coloured body with a bright copper coloured glow, a thin one centimetre tall off-white head and a zillion super small bubbles really slowly rising to the top. Aroma of yeast, more yeast and bread, a bit of curacao, some caster sugar, a hint of alcohol and some fruits. Medium-bodied; Assertive effervescence, a lot of oranges and curacao, some raisin sweetness, a good alcohol bite and a noticeable alcohol burn at the end. Aftertaste shows some complexity, but largely focused on the wheat, yeast, alcohol and citrus notes. Overall, a decent trip, but nothing compared to some other belgies and of course, some more accessible beers here stateside. Still nice to try of course, but if I knew about this prior to buying the beer, I would have packed something else in my suitcase. I sampled this 33 cL stubby bottle purchased from Beer Mania in Bruxelles, Belgium on 30-June-2012 for €2,99 sampled at home in Washington on the other side of the pond on 07-March-2013, with a date on the bottle of 13-January-2013.

Droog mondgevoel. Balans tussen zoetigheid, bitterheid en kruidigheid. Gebrouwen met biologische Poperingse hop, ongeraffineerde rietsuiker en een kleine hoeveelheid knoflook. smaak is in het begin zacht met een vervelende bittere smaak, welke verder in het biertje wat minder wordt, echter blijft in de na/afdronk weer terugkomen. niet mijn favoriet --- Beer merged from original tick of TRPL on 15 May 2018 at 21:02 - Score: 5
