A brown beer with a huge brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of licorice, prunes, caramel, and roasted malt. The roated malty, with notes of plastic and burnt caramel, leading to a quite dry end. Nice beer except for the plastic notes in the flavor.

Opaque black; brownish & fluffy head, leaving lace. Chalk, liquorice, some dark malts in the nose. Light sourish-tart, porter-like burnt/roasted malts taste. All faint, but rather nice, subtle as Phillippe says. Wood-framed dark malts. Thin bodied, which is acceptable, but a tad fizzy. Low acidburn. Adequate Schwarz. This is a beer that asks for accompaniment: Pumpernickel, black pudding or Mettwurst, and a g’selliges Stubl. Good one, Jacob & Martin.
