4oz. sample @ Churchkey, DC Copper color, light off-white head. aroma, lots of dark sugar, caramel malts, dark fruits. flavors, caramel malts, light floral hops, dark sugar, abv is light for 10% lending some burnt caramel elements along with a nice lingering sticky syrupy mouthfeel. Dark fruits with fig, dates add to the enjoyment, warming abv, finish caramel with caramelized apple/pear impression. Nicely done, a tad on the bitter side.

Bottle listed as 10.5% from City Beer. Pours with a hazy honey brown body with a minimal off-white head that fades. Aroma of honey, dates, dried fruits, craisins, and oat based cereals. Toffee, brown sugar, caramel. Taste is boozy, sweet, cereally, oats, a bit bitter, brandy. Pretty decadent. I actually like the overt booziness of it. Bitter (in an astringent grain way), but not too oppressively so. Medium to low bubbles. Huge body. I like it better than my rating suggests.

(Re-rate, draught at Pikkulintu, 20111125) The beer poured brown and cloudy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, raisin and molasses. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, molasses, raisin and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. A completely different beer from the bottled one. Nice barley wine.
(Bottle) Poured amber and cloudy. Head was small and white. Aroma contained alcohol, dark fruits and metallicness. Palate was warming and medium bodied and dry with low carbonation. Flavours were alcohol, sweetness, metallicness, white wine and bitterness. Aftertaste was mildly bitter and sweet. 6-3-6-3-11=2.9

30 cL bottle, courtesy of KimJohansen. Pours dark and golden brown with a small head. Aroma is dark caramelish malty, breadish, slight butterish. Sweet malt flavoured, light herbal note and breadish roasted. Lasting sweet malt impression into the far finish. Slowly building bitterness.

Tasting at Papsø
Hazy amber color; medium sized head. Nice aroma of caramel, light toffee (well, butter), but then followed by vegetables. Sweet caramel flavor, a bit buttery, but mostly with vegetables; strong bitterness, and too high alcohol perception. Unprofessional.

Bottled. A pale amber beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and burnt plastic. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of caramel and malt as well as some notes of burnt plastic, leading to a dry and lightly plastic finish. Thanks KimJohansen for sharing.
