Gerstewijn, ook wel bekend onder de Engelse term barley wine, is een bier met een hoog alcoholpercentage en relatief veel restsuikers. Solaes Twaalfgemeten heeft een romige, moutige smaak die door de alcohol meer diepte krijgt.

A clear orange brown beer with a white lacing. Aroma of strong caramelized malt, dried fruits, booze. Taste of sugary caramelized malt, nuts, molasses, boozy finish.

Small cream-coloured head, reasonably stable over opaque redbrown beer. Bit dusty nose, brown malts, fusels, soggy brown bread. Alcoholsweet, fusels, preserved fruit, liqueured oranges, dates, figs etc. Alcoholburn - if held in check - warming, full-bodied, viscous, almost chewy. Well carbonated. For such a young brewery - in an unlikely place at that - quite deserving. A perfect example of the nonsense of "beerstyles": the website speaks about barley wine, whilst the bottle mentions quadrupel...
