This extra porter is a pitch black beer with a long lasting, chestnut colored head. It has a roasted malt and licorice aroma with hints of ash and smoke, and a slightly sweet taste with notes of licorice and caramel with a sweet and bitter finish.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a pitch black with a light brown head. Hard roasted malt, tar and licorice in the nose. Solid body, hard roasted malt, licorice and tar and a whiff of smoke. Dry finish with some malt bitterness. A very serious Porter. 130211

Bottle @ Home. Pours black with a small cappucino head leaving lacings on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt , coffee, chocolate, sweet fruit. Taste is sweet fruit, orangepeel, coffee, licorice and chocolate. Full body, soft carbonation, very smooth and silky mouthfeel. Very nice brew. 120211

Bottle. Creamy lightbrown excellent fully lasting head. Black colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Wonderfull roast and vanilla notes. Moderate bitter powerfull chocolate and vanilla flavor. Long nice moderate bitter finish. Creamy palate. World class.

(Bottle, 0.5 l, at Pikkulintu - shared with Rosenbergh) The beer poured deep dark brown and almost clear. Its head was medium sized and brown. Aroma had roastedness, nicely liquorice and hops. Palate was full bodied and dry with low carbonation. Flavours were coffee, chocolate, hops, mildly sweetness, liquorice and bitterness. Aftertaste had liquorice, hops and bitterness. A really pleasant beer. The flavours were strong but in my opinion they weren’t overdone.

Bottled@SBWF2010. Deep ruby brown colour, close to black, with a mediumsized beige head. Aroma is caramel malts, some toffee, mild ashes, roasted malts, some smoked wet wood as well as some liquorice. Flavour is being qquite much the same, but the liquorice is being much more evident.

(Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 9 Oct 2010) Black colour with frothy, pale brown head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of dark chocolate, liquorice, strong black coffee and dark rye bread. Roasted, malty taste with liquorice, dark chocolate, black coffee and a generous cocoa bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a gentle sweetness lingering throughout. Lovely porter in excellent balance.

Bottle, at Cardinal’s Ølsymposium. Pitch black colour, moderate tan head. Lovely and well rounded aroma and flavour with all the typical robust porter qualities, but the roastiness is not overdone. Smooth and nicely balanced. Will give a more detailed review on the next occasion.
