Bottle at Cambrinus, Bruges, 21/01/18. Rich chestnut brown with a decent light beige cap that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is malt forward, light spice, caramel, sticky toffee pudding, brown sugar melt. Taste comprises sweet malts, caramel, bread pudding, dates, fruit loaf, dried fruits, slight tangy edge. Medium plus body, fine to prickly carbonation, semi drying close. Decent Belgo strong ... holds the ABV well.

Fles gedeeld met LiekevdV. Het is een lichtbruin bier met weinig schuim. Het aroma is een beetje moutig. De smaak is moutig en licht gebrand.

330ml bottle @ Merckx, Bridgnorth. Surprised I've not rated this before. Pours a deep hazy brown, small pale tan head. Aroma is pleasantly sweet, ripened dark fruits. Taste presents a smooth, moderately sweet dubbel, just enough spice, just enough ripened fruits, nicely balanced. Voila.

At times one is fortunate, located Achel 8 Bruin in Santa Fe with a number of other hard to find beers. My Rochefort Trappistes glass receives half of the 11.2 oz bottle. It serves up a dark amber-brown liquid and an eggshell white head with steady carbonation. The nose is rather pleasant, yeast, spun sugar, grain. A sip delivers yellow fruit, yeast again, bread, green apple and an unexpected lingering bitterness. A great, late afternoon treat. Now for that other half.

330 ml bottle. Medium brown colour, fluffy head. Raisins, liquor, peach, cocoa. Malty-bitter, with some sweetness. Lively carbonated, medium to full body. Alcoholic finish. Nice Strong Ale.

Bottle at botteltje oostend. Brown color, hazed, creamy beige head, persistent. Candy sugar and caramel with red fruit and berries esters, brandy, whisky and intense woody and earthy notes provided by the yeast, providing a spiced and warning tone. Taste is sweet, syrupy, light bitterness comes after but more on the solvent side. Body is medium to full, average carbonation, creamy texture. Finish fairly aromatic on fuel notes. I’d call this a dubbel. Very sweet and good for desserts and winter time.
