Salzspeicher Raspberry

12oz tulip on tap at Red Star Bar, which is in the Whole Foods. Damn, how white of me. Surprisingly the beer prices are rather good. This is $8 and it would probably be a dollar an ounce elsewhere. So, the only downside is having to deal with the loud crappy music in this "better-than-thou" environment. But wait, that is the deal with numerous bars in town. And to be fair someone should have combined the experience of food shopping with drinking, and not in the sad Irish way, a long time ago. It is particularly helpful at Whole Paycheck because it helps to dull the shock of the final receipt. Oh, the beer. Technology makes rating beer so much more fun. I can do this to numb my hatred for my current environment. Color is very dark brown, almost black. To dark to see through. Ghostly white head fades to a sticky lacing. My wife is out of town, so that’s probably the only reason I’m here. I didn’t want to got to a bar by myself but this is a supermarket, so its ok. Aroma is earthy black malts with a light berry character. The entire aroma is very breezy, just swings by the nostrils like a cool wind chill on one of those hot fall days where your body’s been hoping for a cool down. Its a bit like those chocolate raspberry liquor candies mixed with seltzer. Seltza, salsa, salsa, seltza, which is it. Its a very light almost thinned out body. I dislike it when sour beers turn this way. Ehhhh. Thin sour body. Flavor is thin acetic cherry despite the supposed raspberry in this. Its not heavy acetic but they are emphasized with the thin black patent malts. PLOP!

On tap at Gourmet Haus. Raspberry dominates aroma. Brown with tan head. Full raspberry with sour in back half. Raspberry overtakes any porter aspect.

At spuyten the table tried to order a bottle of Lou Pepe to split but they were out so I grabbed half pour of this as consolation prize. pours dark brown with thin head. Nose of lacto and raspberry. Tstes of raspberry syrup, milky chocolate, malt, light RC cola, and earth. Ok

Draft at ChurchKey for Night of the Living Ales: Part 3. Poured a slightly ruby red color with a tan head. Aroma was notes of raspberries, with notes of slightly toasted sweet malts, a touch of chocolate in there too. Flavor was tart berries. Sour, pucker. Not bad.

Draft. Hazy ruby maroon color, tan edge head. Aroma of dusty chocolate covered raspberries dipped in coffee. [10/19/13] Draught at Eurhop Beer Festival 2013 in Rome. Dark brown with light reddish hues and a cool-looking pinkish beige head. Aroma of raspberries, lemon and roastiness. Sourish flavor with raspberry, lacto, lemon and some roastiness. Medium-bodied. Nice and interesting. 7/4/7/3/14=3.5
