This blonde beer full of character is our plea for Belgian Hops: NoAH stands for “No American Hops”. The finest hops, all grown in Belgium, were selected to give this beer a sturdy but pure bitterness and noble hop aroma. Thanks to the low alcohol percentage and fresh hoppiness, this beer makes for the perfect thirst-quenching spirited blonde. Hoppy Belgian blonde with below average ABV. Thinnish but dense, lacing, snow white head over a deep golden blonde beer with good fizz and minuscule yeast particles floating around, hazy. Aroma of grapefruit, chicory, white bread, orange peel, yoghurt, green apple, unripe green plums, freshly cut grass, starfruit, soap, orange juice. Fruity taste but in a restrained kind of way, unripe stonefruit and green apple peel, some natural lemony acidity, yeasty, smooth and soft mouthfeel with minerally carbonation, dryish palate, spicy notes smoothly giving way to a minerally and sourish finish in which drying grassy and somewhat citrussy hops abound, bitter honey and grapefruit. Very quenching and refreshing, I’d say this is a typical example of the ’blond bitter’ style of Belgian ales, in the league of XX Bitter, Bink Blond or even Westvleteren Blond. The intention being to avoid American citrus-flavouring hops, they did a good job at achieving exactly the same effect with European hops. Stuff to think about, though I am all for American hoppiness.

From tap at Ma Che Siete, Rome. Clear golden orange color with white head. Funky yeasty, citrusy fruity and light malty aroma. Taste is sweet and light bitter. Almost medium body, oily with soft carbonation.

Bottle shared with Dutchdrebus and Joes @ weekly tasting. Hazy yellow color, average to medium sized white head. Aroma is not really nice: a bit buttery, malty and dusty. Taste malts, moderately bitter, lightly grains. Pretty bitter finish. Aroma is off imo, but if you like bitter beers like me it’s not bad.

Bottle @ hoke shared by benzai. Hazy pale yellow with a medium to big white head. Smells malty, grassy, green twigs. Tastes malty, bitter, slightly grassy. Should’ve used American hops. Thin to medium body, soft carbo.

In Leuven at the ZBF. Pours clear yellow, hazy. Tick white foam. Nose of fresh yeast and spring flowers. Easy to drink in the mouth, with feel of bitterness and sourness. Nice beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
