27/1/2023. Bottle shared with Dan & Col post Colchester. Pours very dark brown with a small frothy beige head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, liquorice, touch of cinnamon, dark fruits and berries. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Medium body, creamy, soft carbonation.

Bottle at Beers & Travels, served in a big, pre-heated snifter. A very dark, glossy, brown pour, almost black, with a tan-to-cinnamon head that lasts but a moment and leaves no trace. Aroma is intense and complex: obviously, loads of black coffee and bitter cocoa; but there's chicory, arugula, walnuts, soya sauce, Lea & Perrins... Dry onset, medium-bodied, very bitter but well balanced thanks to the expressive crispness. Dark and dry finish that lasts less than expected.

Bottle @ Patricks. Can’t believe I have forgotten to rate this earlier as I have had this quite a few times now. Anyway, a nice one to repeat. Black body under a fine, dense beige head. Aroma has dark, roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. The same goes for the flavor with nice bitterness in addition. Of course, this was a more impressive beer about ten years ago, but it’s still damn nice. Fine balance, lots of flavors without tasting like another pastry shot.

Bottled on 2020. Piana spora, bezowo jasna, niczym kapelusze kanii. Barwa czarno-brazowa niczym tabliczki wszystkich czekolad powyzej 50% kakao. Czekoladowo-kawowy aromat. W smaku kawa, czekolada, i mocno raz jeszcze dowalilo kawa. Pochodzi z Javy, wiec szlachetna, ale zdominowalo to tak piwo, ze raczej za mocno palone w ostatwecznosci, nieco mlecznego posmaku, jakby milk stout a nie RIS. te IBU nie wyczuwa sie przez te kawe, no ale i tak koncowka wytrawna. Pitch black with a beige head. Massive coffee and chocolate aroma with some dried fruits and deeply roasted oats. Sweet taste with a roasted bitter finish. Deeply satisfying oatmeal stout.
