Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented in the bottle. It's a seasonal beer, so we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

Bottle at Dulle Griet. Slightly cloudy amber gold colour with big white frothy head. Aroma is very sweet, honey, quite boozy. Taste is honey sweetness with a slight bitterness. Warming and boozy. Quite full bodied. Has the complexity that the Dulle Teve lacks. One of my favourites.

7% on the label. Orange color, a bit cloudy, frothy head. Honey aroma, a bit yeasty and a hint of metal. Bitter, yeasty and metallic flavor with some honey. Prickly. I remember much better Boskeun’s. What has gone wrong with this beer? Or is it just my tastebuds that are on strike? 5 4 6 2 10 = 2.7 1983 version, Kulminator Antwerp. Caramel, dust, cherry and a touch of sherry in the aroma. Ditto flavor, still a bit buttery. Low on carbon, but this beer is still in great shape (8 4 8 4 16 = 4.0) 2007 version, 10% ABV. Honey and a hint of vinegar in both aroma and flavor. Malty, orange, rosebuds. medium to full bodied. Sweet and alcoholic. The first signs of an upcoming tartness. I’m still not totally convinced, but there is improvement. 2008 version, tasted 13.02.10. Orange blonde, cloudy. massive gusher, lost about half of its contents. Cane sugar and honey in the aroma. Medium bodied. Honeyish but alcoholic flavor, first signs of an upcoming tartness.

Bottle at home. Sweet juicy malts, orange peel, white raisans, rusty sherry notes, white wine, boozy, light spices, mild sour peachy yoghurt, honey and sugary syrup. Big sweet and mild bitterness, touch of yoghurty sourness. Full body and soft fizzy carbonation. Very fruity big balsy and sweet.
