Tap. Nitro pour. Ammutsøn, Vienna. Longest I’ve ever waited for a beer. And then it was a ridiculously short measure with a head nothing like a nitro pour. Jesus. Anyway. Nearly black. Foam of tan. Nose has bitter chocolate. Coffee truffle. Burnt caramel. Dark roast malt. Taste has a burnt caramel sweetness. Coffee grinds bitterness. Medium body. Fairly drying. Fine carbonation. Burnt bitterness to finish. Decent beer, spoiled somewhat by a “nitro pour” that didn’t work.

Tap at the source. Pours dark brown with beige head. Aroma is roast, coffee, malt. Flavor is bitter, some sweetness, roast, malt, coffee. Finish is dry. Overall: good, but bit too dry and lacking balacing sweetness for me.

Very dark brown with thin head. Aroma and flavour have a metallic edge. Otherwise dark roasty malts. Bittersweet.

23 July 2018. L'Ermitage Tap Takeover at Dok Brewing, Ghent. Cheers to Anke!
Pours hazy dark brown with a thinning, but rather stable, beige head; little lacing. 'Dark' aroma of fondant, Nesquik, coffee with a subtle dash of cream, pistachio, mocha ice cream, cigar ash, wood, toast, black pepper, earth. It tastes medium roasted bitter, hints of coffee & ash, and light malty sweet, a bit nutty & chocolatey, faintly umami perhaps; basic raisin- or blackcurrant-like sourness in the back. Dryish, toasty, peppery hoppy finish, lingering nuts & coffee. Medium body, oily texture but bordering on watery, fizzy carbonation. Balanced & tasty 'modern' Porter.

Keg at The Brewery. It pours darkest brown, sort of opaque with a small tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, sweet, toasted brown sugars, oily, coffee grounds, coffee cake and dark fruits. The taste is drying, bitter, charred wood, tannin, umami, liquorice, burnt toast, earthy, spice, toasted sesame and loads of coffee with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. If anything it's a touch raw. Fun anyhow.
