Bottle at Bob’s Bar. This beer pours an oily black color with a medium thick tan head that diminishes slowly. Patches of lacing on the glass. Nice roasted coffee and malt aroma with a touch of cocoa. Rich and chewy body, with flavors of roasted coffee, malt and chocolate. Light hops and yeast notes at times too. The finish is roasty with a burnt malt aftertaste. Overall this is an enjoyable Double Stout.

22oz bottle-pours a rich brown head and dark brown color. Aroma is dark malt/oats-rich chocolate, slight earthy hops with some acidic. Taste is dark malt/oats-rich chocolate, earthy hops with some acidic balanced with some fruit. Occasional. Thanks to Joe-jwc215 for sharing this.

Number 400. 22oz bomber. Big, black color with a frothy head. Mellow, coffee and chocolate malt aroma. The taste is rich and creamy, and quite drinkable, without the alcohol burn of some of the more rugged Imperial Stouts. Lots of thick sweet chocolate and crystal malt taste. Well balanced with the Target Hops. This is a top notch Stout, Double Stout or Imperial Stout.

Bottle. Deep rich brown with ruby/black highlights and a brown head. Rich chocolate and light roast aroma. Chocolate and roast flavor with backing bitterness. Well balanced. Bigger bodied, but not over done. Lingering roast, chocolate and balancing hops. Very nice.

Bomber. Opaque brown/black color with a very impressive dark tan head. Aromas of dark roasted/toasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Medium plus body with very smooth and creamy carbonation. A touch of tar in the flavor, as well as dark roast (not burnt) malt, coffee, cacao and just maybe some floral/fruity hop. It’s very sturdy, and quite impressive. It actually seems to get fruitier with time. Brilliant. Reasonably dry too.

Pours very dark with mocha head. The aroma is roasty dark malts, just a bit of burnt malts, some nice chocolate malts and faint toffee. The taste is pretty yummy. I get roasty to burnt malts to go along with dark chocolate. Midway some caramel and toffee surfaces before the big roastiness, dark roastiness and burnt malts surge and take over. Sweet, roasty, yummy with some pine hops riding along in the background.

Pours almost completely black, with a dense layer of brown foam on top that quickly dissipates, leaving behind a thin ring of large bubbles - the aroma is quite grainy/oat-like and sweet up front, but stronger whiffs reveal bitter chocolate, coffee, toffee, anise, and even some red wine-like tannins - smooth and creamy in the mouth - starts out a little bitter and almost tart, with some bakers chocolate being the dominant flavor - this is followed by some hop bitterness that is almost peppery, but somehow the flavor of the hops doesn’t become too strong; their bitterness just adds a spiciness that compliments what little alcohol shows itself - it starts to get sweet late, bring with it cream and coffee flavors, and a lot of roasted malt character - a little bit of blueberry-ish fruity character arrives in the finish as well - the finish get the slightest bit sticky, but other than that, this is a well-balanced and tasty stout.

Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with excellent retention leaves sheet lacing as it slowly recedes. Dark caramel, chocolate and espresso aromas. Creamy with a slightly sour coffee through the middle and a lasting bitter chocolate finish.

Very dark black body with a large creamy brown head that persists. Big chocolate and roast aroma. Big roast and chocolate aroma with a rather potent bitter finish. Medium full body with moderate carbonation. Certainly very bitter, but not completely unbalanced from the malt complexity.

Bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville. Nearly black pour with a medium brown head. Decent retention/lacing. Roasted malt aroma with chocolate and coffee notes. Roasty taste with coffee, chocolate, brown sugar and hop bitterness. Creamy texture. Yummy.
