This stout is simply not suitable for vegetarians. It contains oysters. Now, you won’t find one at the bottom of the glass, but you may get a touch of sweet minerality in the flavour that comes from the freshly shucked lads that get put in during brewing. Not a bad way to go, even for a bivalve.Delicate and toasty, it also has slightly bitter, fragrant twist, thanks to East Kent Goldings.

Draft at The Penny Black, Naples. Pours dark brown with a thick creamy tan head. Aroma of roast, light coffee, fudge, malt, milk chocolate and caramel. Flavour is moderate sweet and over moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Draught. Black colour, fantastic thick brown head with very good lacing. Aroma is dominated by something strange, I guess it comes from oysters, but I don’t like it. Roasted finish. Light sweetness. I prefer classic stouts.

330ml bottle. Ruby red glowing, darkest brown colour with average, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Roasty dark malty aroma, a salty touch, somehow sweet-ish, floral overtones, lavernder, bath salt. Taste is slightly roasty dark malty, moderately sweet, slightly fruity, hints of dark berries, plum, a touch of chocolate, lavender, bath salt; slightly soapy finish. All this soapy and salty stuff is reasonably fascinating at first sight, and may make you puzzling over its origin (oyster?); but further contemplation leads to the conclusion, whatever the origin is, its result, in the end, isn’t that damn f...in’ tasty either.

In Belgrade at a private tasting event. Pours black with a medium foam. Nice balanced nose if roasted malts, no coffee or licorice. Mouth is a plus: salty feel and easy to drink feel. A good stout ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330 ml bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly crystal clear dark reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, caramel, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, toffee, herbal, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of roast/bready malt notes; with decent strength. Taste of chocolate, caramel, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, light coffee, herbal, salt, and roast/mineral earthiness. Fair amount of herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, caramel, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, light coffee, salt, herbal, and roast/mineral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and complexity of roasted/bready malt and moderate earthy hop flavors; with decent robustness and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth and lightly creamy/chalky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a pretty good stout. Good complexity and solid robustness of roast/bready malt, earthy hop, and salty oyster flavors; and very smooth to drink. A pleasantly enjoyable offering.
