A special twist on the Finnish style Sahti, brewed at Nøgne Ø in cooperation between Dugges Brewery, Sweden, and Nøgne Ø of Norway. Brewed with rye and wheat, sea wormwood from the Swedish archipelago, juniper twigs from the Norwegian forests, honey from heather flowers in Telemark and three selected yeast strains from Belgium, Germany and Britain, and of course, some malt and hops too.

How: Bottle.
Where: Man in the Moon, Stockholm.
Appearance: Amber colour with a small white head.
Aroma: Sweet, honey, juniper.
Body: Medium body, low carbonation.
Flavour: Sweet, spices, juniper, fruit, hops.
Comment: I don’t have much (any) experience with sahti so can’t say how close to the real deal this beer is. It is quite drinkable, not a very good beer, but definitely something that goes down without to much struggle.

Sample from bottle @ sbwf13. Clear amber thin head. Mostly honey in this beer. Flavorwise honey soaked in water, not much else here. What?

br>Appearance: Cloudy dark color and almost no head.
Aroma: Fruity and sour with some honey notes.
Palate: Medium + body, a bit sour and a fine sweetness. Soft carbonation. Oily texture.
Taste: Round sweet fruity, acidic and sour.
Overall impression: Really complex stuff. Lovely balanced sweet honey and fruity on a solid malty back.
Personal stats: Bottle from a trade with Yngwie. Batch 382.

Bottle, courtesy of Cunningham and yngwie.
orange golden color with small white head. Aroma of juniper, wheat, yeast, honey. Taste, rye, honey, juniper, wheat, caramel, wood, peat. Peaty bitterness in finish. Alcohol is well hidden. We had also Pihamaan Sahti with 9 % ABV during our tasting session and I could see some similarities between the two. Very tasty beer.

Bottle. Sweet strong floral honey, fruity vanilla, and bready malt aroma. Cloudy amber with a moderate ivory head, flocculation. Bready malt, stong floral honey, and spicy flavor. Full viscous body, soft carbonation. Very interesting. Since I’m a big fan of floral flavors, I enjoyed this one. Was a little disappointed the juniper didn’t come through.

(Bottle) Hazy amber colour with foamy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with honey, dried fruit, flowers, rye bread and a touch of juniper berries. Aromas of honey dominate after a while. Fruity, malty taste with notes of honey, rye bread, juniper berries, flowers and a bitter-sweet finish with spicy hints of wormwood. Almost full body, fairly sweet. A fair amount of alcohol shining through. Different, but quite nice.

50 cl bottle @ home. Batch #382, bottled 16.09.2008, BBE 16.09.2013. Rated on 07.05.2010
Aroma is somewhat sweet and perfume‐like. It has with honey, some yeasty and boozy notes. Flavour is sweet with quite stinging alcohol. Also honey, some herbs (juniper?) and yeast. Not a Sahti in any way – and not a good beer either. A disappointment from Nøgne.

Cloudy amber beer, light frothy white head. Rich honey nose. Light and soft palate, slightly dry. Deep rich honey, sweet and slightly floral. Pinch of spice and then something perfumey and also bitter at the same time, possibly the wormwood. Finishes soft and with a little hop bitterness and aniseed alcohol. Unusual and well flavoured, more integrated as the beer warms up.
