Amber, intense in colour and with a persistent head. Intriguingly aromatic bouquet. Soft and balanced, with enjoyable toasty notes, hints of red fruits and a slight spiciness from refermentation in the bottle, which adds even more interest. Malts: Pilsner, Chocolate. Hops: Saaz, Perle. Ingredients: water, malted barley, hops, candy sugar.

Bottle. Dark brown beer with a dark tan head. Rich malt and dark fruit aroma. Malt and light caramel flavor with dark fruits. Medium bodied - somewhat lighter than expected. Dark fruit and rich malt lingers with light caramel and light yeast.

Bottled @ The Hague Tasting, small sample. Dark brown color, medium head. Bit spicy aroma, caramel, hint of fruitiness. Bit sweet. Ok dubbel, which is not my favorite style. Balanced, but a bit boring though.

Bottle from the Microbar, Manchester. Drank at Uncle Tel’s abode. Brown pour with a white head. Aromas of raisin, chocolate and blackcurrant. Flavours of sweet spice, chocolate and raisin. Long malt finish. Tasty.

Bottle poured into a Belgian snifter. Pours a dark caramel/honey brown with 2 finger off-white head. Nice head retention. Aromas of brown sugar, candied fruit, yeast, esters. Tasting notes of candied fruit, esters, dark fruit, caramel. Very malt forward with a medium-ish body.

On draught at Winking Lizard. The beer is a clear brownish-amber color with a medium foamy light beige head that recedes gradually. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, toffee and dark fruit. Medium-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, yeast and dark fruits. The finish is sweet with a malt and earthy yeast aftertaste. Decent overall.

The Sampler, Brooklyn 11.2oz ($6): Pours brown with a beige head. Aroma is malty, lightly fruity, chocolate. Beer has a reserved sweetness. Nice yeast exposure. Malty, of course, but not excessively as many are. Lighter than many dubbels for sure. Easy to drink. Pretty good.
