Rating from 2008, on tap: Cremiger Schaum.

10. July 2013, on tap at the brewery garden, 30°C. Looks good, very dark, small head, malty, a little bit roasted. Good for an italian beer.

New Beer Distributors, NY 330ml ($1.75): Pours a brown color with a small head. Aroma is dark fruit and a heck of a bunch of malts. Taste is somewhat sweet, but sufficiently subdued. Fruity taste throughout. This is a nice and sessionable doppelbock--easy to drink and has enough taste to make it good.

Bottle at home in London. Pours clear, ruby brown with a foamy, light beige head. Aroma has a lot of that ripe, cherry-grape-raisin character to it, with some rich bread and sugary caramel. Medium sweet and quite bready, with some semi-darkened sugar, ripe (almost rotting) semi-dark fruits, very mild leaves. Medium bodied with average, smooth and creamy carbonation. Medium sweet to finish with just a whisper of alcohol, dark bread, mild fruit undertones. It’s a pretty light doppelbock, but a rather drinkable one, too.

Tap as Forst Rossa at a pizzeria in Firenze. Pours ruddy amber with a small creamy beige head that laces. Aroma of oak? Med body. Flavor is lightly grapey ande fairly woody. Finishes on the bitter side. Very good beer. So. Did I get beer that was a bit infected? Or is there another Forst beer that is widely distributed that pours copper/amber? I had a very good beer.
