Strong Barrel aged Sour Ale. The Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien is a strong sour ale of mixed fermentation, aged during a year in old wine oak barrels. The oak aging and the action of wild yeasts confer this beer’s astonishing wide range of aromas. Its outstanding komplexity, balance, roundness and long finish, are the fruit of the meticulous blend of selected barrels. On the palate the blend reminds one of fruity red wines with a pronounced balsamic sourness. The best way to enjoy a Bon-Chien is to serve it in an elegant wine glass at 16°C or 60.6°F paired with a duck breast or some panned foie gras for example.

Simply delicious. I think this is the fourth vintage I've had. Least sour one but full of deep oaky flavors

Draft. Mahogany beer with a light tan head. Tart and light dark fruit aroma. Sour and dark fruit flavor. Medium bodied. Sour and light acetic notes linger with dark fruit and light oak.

hazy brown colour, minimal off-white lacing; aroma of acetone, acetic acidy, woody, earthy, red wine and sour cherry juice notes; taste is the same with intensive citric acidy notes; not bad, though a bit too much for my taste

150ml on tap at Rusty Pub in Mowcow. Pours opaque dark brown with no head. Aroma is cherries, vinegar, barrel, red wine. Taste is heavy sour, vinious, balsamic vinegar, barrel, berries. Full bodied. No carbonation. Alcohol is hidden very well. Nice sipper but I’m couldn’t drink more than this measure in one sitting.

Rerate down from 3.9 to 3.5 good beer but the acidity is too harsh. ___ Dark brown with no head. Aroma has red fruits and a little woody dryness. Flavour is super sharp and fruity. Cherries and forest fruits. Really deep and full flavoured. The 11% is well masked.
