The latest beer in our experimental Abstrakt series. Fans of Bashah Special Reserve get excited: for it is deep within that collaborative gem that AB:12 found it’s liquid inspiration. AB:12, which has just been transferred from oak casks back into one of our tanks, is a 11.2% imperial black Belgian ale which has been aged for 8 months in single grain Scotch whisky casks with a medley of fresh Scottish berries (tayberries, blackberries & raspberries).

37..5cl bottle from my cellar 2 or 3 years old. Very thin ring tan head. Clear bkack pour. Some raspberries. Some barrel notes. It’s mellowed nicely.

Bottle sample at Beer Market TLV. Thanks Stas. Very dark brown. Aroma of malt, lots of berries, caramel, cookies, vanilla, a bit of chocolate. Very sweet flavor, kinda boozy, vinous, with malt, caramel, lots of berries and tart touch. Boozy oily mouthfeel. Too boozy.

Flaska från SB. Kolsvart, inget skum.

375ml bottle shared at the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki. Dark brown almost black color with no head. Aroma is malty, light roasted, light chocolate, caramel, very fruity, wood and alcohol. Sweet and light bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft to flat carbonation. Sweet very fruity aftertaste.

37,5 cl bottle @ lusikka. Bottle #9482/9829, bottled 12.12.2012
Aroma feels stale with ripe fruits and some berries. Also some moldy tones, raspberries, blackcurrant and fruit-like perfume tones. Flavour has dark berries, blackcurrants and some licorice. Also raspberries. Salty and medicine-like, just like other Abstrakts. At the end of the glass raspberries take over, but it does not make this any better.
