100% Brettanomyces dark beer, fermented in stainless and aged in used red wine barrels. “Brett” is a unique yeast strain that produces flavors that would be offensive if they weren’t intentional. Flavors of sour cherry, tobacco, oak, and classic “Brett” barnyard funk, balanced by Dark Munich malt chewiness. Enjoy immediately or age at cellar temperature for a couple years.

At tht. Delicious aroma of red fruit, vanilla, tart, funk and vinegar. Taste of vinegar, red fruit, oak, red grape, tannine and a fruity funky finish. Nice one.

Tap at the brewery listed as Barrel Aged and 7%. Reddish brown and fairly clear with an acidic sour cherries and red wine aroma. Medium bodied. The taste adds notes of oak and Brett, surprisingly sour (as in more than anticipated).

750 ml wax-dipped bottle from Happy Harry’s in ND. Creepy fucking bottle, like something from an ’80s horror movie. Aroma is oak, lactic, dark fruit, raisin, molasses. Pours hazy dark brown with orange highlights and a thin beige head. Taste is sour (7/10) and acidic with flavors matching the aroma; faint spiciness. Too much oak influence for me. I’m not getting Brett in aroma or flavor. A tad thin with soft carbonation. The oak is a bit too forward for me, but otherwise it’s good.

Tap into a snifter showing moderately filtered dark wine red with sparse latte colored foam. The nose shows a mix of brett funk and a strong red wine profile (think goose berry and boysenberry) The palate is moderately carbonated and light bodied. Bretty funk for an instant on the attack then afterwards, red wine tannins and dark berry flavors become very quickly apparent. Bitterness on the finish shows the same red wine flavor profile with bright oak also apparent in the background. Lightly tart, the finish also shows a drying tannic edge.

On tap at CBC 2016 - day 2. Sour and spicy, with notes of red fruit and grapes. Some brett notes perfectly integrated into the beer.

Tap @CBC16. Clear dark copper. Dark, sour aroma. Dark berries. Sweetish berry flavour and a good deal of sourness too. Blackberry and cherry perhaps. Nice.

Bottle. A- Sour cherry, subtle funk. A- Reddish brown color, hazy liquid, minimal head. T- Slightly sour, tart, subtle funk, oak, sour cherry. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, tart finish. O- Certainly not worth the price of admission at $23 a a bomber but fair. Not too much Brett funk but instead a decent overtone of sour cherry and oak. The wine barrels impart a subtle flavor addition but it’s not overwhelming. Tastes more like a Sour red/brown.

2015 bottle. The beer pours a hazy reddish-mahogany color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of cherries, oak and yeast. Medium body with flavors of tart cherry, funky yeast, oak and biscuit malt. The finish is moderately sour and oaky with a tart cherry aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Not sure about the vintage. Dark bread malts, dark fruits and balanced acidity. Decent sour!
