We brewed up a kettle sour Imperial Berliner Weisse and irresponsibly let the kids get into it. Sour candy kids that is!

Draft pour at Ascension 4th Anniversary party. Pours a hazy orange with a finger of white foam that lingers. Lots of bright, sour gummy notes with citrusy, zesty tang. Smooth and tangy on the palate. Good tart notes, but nice sweetness as well. ABV hidden well and very refreshing. Great stuff.

Mostly tastes like a berliner, but has a sharp tart kick right at the front.

16 ounce can into tulip glass; no can dating, but was just released. Pours very hazy/cloudy medium golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a minimal lace cap that lingers. Minimal lacing on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas and flavors of big sour/tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, cherry, blue raspberry, strawberry, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, gummy candy, hay, straw, grass, wheat, white bread dough, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/acidic yeast, sour candy, and pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big sour/tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, cherry, blue raspberry, strawberry, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, gummy candy, hay, straw, grass, wheat, white bread dough, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate lactic/candy tang/tartness, and light spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of sour/tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, cherry, blue raspberry, strawberry, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, gummy candy, hay, straw, grass, wheat, white bread dough, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, sour candy, and pale/wheat malt flavors; with an amazing malt/tartness, and tangy candy balance; with no puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering tartness and tangy candy. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/grainy, fairly acidic, and lightly tangy mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol for 7%. Overall this is an amazing flavored Berliner weisse! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, sour candy, and pale/wheat malt flavors; insanely smooth, and pretty refreshing to drink for the ABV, with the mellowly acidic/tangy/drying finish, not overly lactic. It tastes exactly like all of the flavors of Sour Patch kids combined; with perfect balance of Lacto and pale/wheat malts against acidity. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing style example.
