Made with Highly roasted malted barley, and plenty of it, to give the beer an uncommon richness and smoky, roasty depth. Just the way the 18th century Russian royalty liked it.

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Fergus. Pours deep brown with a creamy, tan head. The nose has light smoke, burnt malts, chocolate. Medium sweet flavour with gooey chocolate, scorched earth, raisins, burnt toast. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish, more baking cocoa, ripe and dried dark fruits, berries, earth. Nice impy.

Beer #11 of 13 in blind tasting.
A lighter imperial stout but definitely an impy. A little alcohol and slightly ashy. Low hop and low acidity.
For the aggregate, 3rd best but in the same category as the top 3.
