Mighty hop character and just 95 calories … that can’t be possible. Oh, but it is! After a year of R&D and months of fine-tuning what seemed to be unimaginable, Slightly Mighty is finally here! This true indie craft beer has all the character of a world class IPA, but with only 95 calories, 3.6g carbs, 1g protein and 0g fat per 12oz serving. Seriously.

But how? Digging deep into our culinary roots, we found our answer in an ancient Chinese delicacy - monk fruit. Sweeter than sugar per ounce, monk fruit amplifies the body and complexity of the beer, yet contains no calories. Whereas most IPAs start with a formidable malt bill to balance hoppy bitterness with malty sweetness, Slightly Mighty goes about it a different way – all through the magic of monk fruit. Most light beers are watery and lack body, but with Slightly Mighty, the monk fruit essentially acts as the beer’s skeleton, on which mighty hop muscle and flavor can be built. It allows us to reduce the malt bill and avoid any unnecessary unfermentable sugars, and consequently deliver a beer that is lower in calories and carbs, and perfectly balanced.

The result is a hazy gold lo-cal IPA that throws tropical notes of pineapple, coconut, mango and citrus, all while delivering an aromatic hoppiness that makes it oh-so drinkable. Brewed with ‘lo-cal’ly grown malted barley, Slightly Mighty is dynamic and crisp with a refreshing hop profile.

Can: Poured a light amber color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light bitter hops notes with light fruity notes also perceptible. Taste is also a mix of light bitter hops notes with some fruity undertones and a light dry aftertaste. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not bad, taste like an old school IPA.

Bunch a cans while watching football and doing items around the house. Light colored and light bodied. Nose is light pine and resin. Taste of pine, some citrus and floral and resin. Thin and watery. Low bitterness.

[12oz can from Albertson's, Fullerton, CA.] A bright pale amber pour with a thick cream coloured head; predominantly citrus aroma - orange and mandarin - with some pine in the background; malty body, fruity but not sweet, but lacking weight; and leading to a rather disappointing finish. Refreshing, and certainly a good attempt at a lower calorie/alcohol Session IPA.

12 oz can. Clear gold, fizzy white head. Light aroma and flavor of grains, fruit, and dough. Drinks thin and fizzy. Kind of a slightly hoppy blonde thing going on I guess, but not much here to really enjoy.

On Tap slightly hazy deep dull golden. FUll and dense fine white head. Even single bubble thickness sheets of lacing. Dull woody grassy hop aromas and flavors. A little maltiness and color somewhat earthy. Lacking bright fresh hoppiness.

2 month old can A: Poured mostly clear bubbly medium gold with 1 frothy head, retaining and lacing well. S: Muted scent of citrus and caramel or cookie. T: Fruity with a light citrus bitterness. Very light sweetness joins and lingers briefly before the seltzer note kicks in. Not as seltzery as some in this vein. Fairly tasty actually. M: Light, crisp and tingly as expected. Clean and refreshing. O: Probably the best of this genre I've tried to date.I could actually drink 2 or 3 of these.

Kinda comes across as vague hoppy nothingness. Slight citrus, echoes of corn, and a weird fruity sweetness on the back end. Oh, brewed with monk fruit. Swell. Why the hell would you ever drink this?
