This is the lager. This is the pilsner, the lager, the bottom fermented beer. This is the Captain on the deck, one of the lone lagers cruising on the ocean of ale. To Øl actually loves lager type beers, and sometimes lagers is missed out because of the many great ales present. Problem is that most people who brew lagers apparently has a taste of old dusty piss yellow obnoxious stale impotent beers. So now was the time to stir things up and tell the people how you can do a super hoppy, well balanced pilsner type beer!

Draught @ BBB. Pours tiny hazy deep golden with a frothy offwhite head that leaves some sparse sticky thin lacing on the glass while dissipating. Smell is slightly malty, slightly herbal, slightly grassy and tiny fruity with bread, blood orange juice, moist grass, moist soil and lemon zest. Taste is slightly sweet, bitter, herbal and tiny fruity. Mouthfeel is round, astringent and medium bodied. Finish is slightly sweet and bitter with bread, grapefruit juice, moist grass, lemon balm, moist soil and lemon peal. Solid hoppy lager.

Cloudy orange, frothy head of big bubbles. Well lacing. Aroma of tropical fruit, blossom, resin. Medium body. The taste has a malty base and a powerfull roof of hops: earthy, herbal, fruity, piny. Herbal finish. Long. A very good lager tasting not exactly like lager.

Draft glass @ Billie’s Bier Kafétaria. Amber / orange, creamy white head. Nose is bitter orange hop nose with quite a bit grass, dried orange peel, caramel is light, light yeast, served too cold it feels to me,… Taste is dried orange peel, a bit more on the bitter grass side than fruity, caramel, light iron note, grapefruit, resin,… A bit thin & a touch iron-like body,… It didn’t feel optimal,… It mimicked the profile of a typical USA DIPA a bit too much but you felt a bit like some caramel, malt & fruity-character was missing due to this. Still a pretty pleasant & easy to drink to drink beer. Just a bit more bitter grass forward, a bit thinner & less fruity / hoppy forward than expected.
