Though we’re nestled on a 19th century American hop farm, our roots stretch back across time and water, all the way to Belgium. Brut IPA brilliantly expresses the best of both proud brewing cultures. Dry-hopped with Mandarina Bavaria, Citra and Calypso, and patiently bottle conditioned in our cellars, this sparkling sensation is beautifully balanced and intriguingly effervescent. With a bright burst of hops and only 140 calories, it’s a perfect match for life’s lighter moments.

Bottle at the apartment in Brooklyn - sourced from Top Hops. Pours mostly clear yellow with a creamy white topping. Nice beer, some white grape, melon, bready pale mats, light lemon rind bitterness. Medium bodied with lively, massaging carbonation. Rounded finish, soft funk notes, more white grape. Enjoyable.

Crisp, ever so slightly hazy (out of all things) golden coloured body with a bright yellow glow and a rather noticeable two centimetre tall, soapy and large bubbled head - not the exact look for this style, but not bad. Aroma of crisp grassy and very herbal hops with a bright astringent and medicinal bitterness and a lot of yeast and bready notes towards the end. Light-bodied; Strong effervescence up front with a decidedly bitter and very crisp hop bite that shows the grasses and herbs and a touch of a floral element, but the punch is really in the bubbles - which is perfect for the style. Aftertaste shows a more balanced product with some lighter malts coming through and a dose of yeast along with a citrus and lemon profile along with grass and strongest of all - pure grapefruit and the bitterness associated with that fruit. Overall, a good IPA that shows the punch and pungency of a dry IPA, but is missing some of the components like the look and complexities at the end. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Harris Teeter in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 06-May-2019 for US$1,87 sampled at home in Washington on 12-May-2019.

Very dry—as it should be, I guess, but sweetness levels vary wildly between versions of this style—with a firm grapefruit-resin bitterness against saltine malts and a floral, desert-like finish. Fade is grapefruit skin, pencil shavings, and pine. Seems to be a faithful representation of the style, which would be good if the style weren’t so damn boring.

$3.30 bottle from Wine Warehouse. Pale gold pour, hint of haze, huge white head. Aroma is lemon and lime zest, light grapefruit, floral hops, dust, passion fruit, light metal. Flavor is chalk, aspirin, lemon zest... that's it. DIE TREND DIE.

12 ounce bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled on 11/20/2018. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy pale golden straw color with a 2 finger very foamy and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big mandarin orange, grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, red apple, passion fruit, mango, melon, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, cracker, corn, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate corn/malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big mandarin orange, grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, red apple, passion fruit, mango, melon, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, cracker, corn, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, woody, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of mandarin orange, grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, red apple, passion fruit, mango, melon, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, cracker, corn, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate corn/malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Very crisp/clean finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and carbonation. High carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and fairly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 6.3%. Overall this is an outstanding Brut IPA. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate corn/malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the moderately bitter/resinous/drying finish, not aggressive. Awesome Mandarina Bavaria, Calypso, and Citra profile. Very vibrant, dank, and earthy balanced hop complexity; with a solid pils malt/grainy backbone. Zero residual sweetness from crisp dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example. Feels like champagne more so than any other Brut IPA I've had yet, with the carbonation levels and very clean finish.

Bottle from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours bright, translucent perry color witha significant frothy white head. Aroma is dry and fruity. Sort of a mix of green melon and pale stone fruits. Deep inhale moisturized the trachea. Med body. The impression is lush fruits - not insane tropicals/not citrus/pine/resin - but something like green melon and white berries with a touch of saaz hop. Quite dry. Malt hard to discern. Clearly hoppy, but humanely so. Comes as close to hopped champagne as any of these modern Bruts I've indulged in. I'm giving a high rating - not because it's out of sight like BA ISs, but because of the experience! Likin' it.
