Opaque, black, moderate beige head. Aroma: dark malts, esters, treacle, roasted malts. Medium minus body. Soft carbonation. Taste: roast, esters, coffee, light phenolic off-notes. Low to light bitterness. A couple of questions.

0.33 l bottle from local 'Getränke Hoffmann', best before May 2021. Pitch black with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty, slightly powdery aroma of cocoa, coffee and some licorice with traces of nuts. Gently sweet, malty, quite roasty taste of cocoa, coffee, licorice and toasted nuts, followed by a medium long, gently roasty-bitter, fairly earthy-dry finish. Medium to full body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Solid Stout, nicely roasty and not too sweet.

In der Nase seeeehr röstig, Kohle, im Trunk ebenso, sehr verbrannt, röstig ist fast untertrieben. Danach ist jedes Bier geschmacklos. Hätte das beim Insel-Kap schon, echt nicht mein Ding.

Bottle, 0.33l. Black pour, one finger creamy brown head. Good retention, long lasting. Thick lacing on the glass. Really nice on the nose, roasted malts, liquor, some wood notes. Almost has this Imperial Stout feel to it, which is nice. Thin to medium body, medium carbonation. Light mouthfeel and texture, easily drinkable but a bit disappointing - I really hoped for the fuller body. Oh well, no matter. Taste and aroma are quite fine and spot on. Liquory bittersweet taste and aroma. High on the malt, caramel and roasted. Herbs, forest fruits. Cocoa and coffee. Ashy. Woody notes, pronounced alcohol. Quite liquory, dry, lingering bitterness and slight burn on the tongue. Medium to long finish. Pretty good stout. Tasty.
