Poured from can thanks Stfun all central state cans gushed on opening and this was the same. Pitch black with long lasting fluffy mocha head. Aromas of dark fruit roasted malt and spent coffee. Taste is bitter bubbly mouth feel lacking the rich a creamy texture I was hoping for. Yeast adds a weird flavor.

Tap at Gambrinus. Pours black with a finger of foam that lingers. Tons of oak and ash, bit of smoke and brett. Bone dry on the palate with smoked wood, ash and a touch of chalk. Yeast and brett (I assume) add alot of perceived dryness here. Roasty, smokey flavors with a bit of a lingering charred finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Gute Nacht on 24 Jan 2017 at 19:06 - Score: 6. On tap at Hopcat Louisville. Pours black with creamy medium tan head that lasts. The aroma is roast, cocoa, wood. Thick body, chewy, roast, wood, light smoke, bitter finish, very good.
