24 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 4/28/2017. Pours crystal clear reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big nutty medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, cocoa, brown bread, vanilla, toasted biscuit, light herbal, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Subtle fruitiness from the yeast and coffee. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of coffee, dark/roast/bready malt, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big nutty medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, cocoa, brown bread, vanilla, toasted biscuit, light herbal, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal hop and roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of coffee, caramel, brown sugar, cocoa, brown bread, vanilla, toasted biscuit, light herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of coffee, dark/roast/bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great hop/roast bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from hop/roast bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/grainy/bready, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a very nice English coffee porter! All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of coffee, dark/roast/bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Very flavorful for the low ABV, with great coffee presence and malt complexity. A very enjoyable offering.

Tap at Gambrinus. Pours a clear, deep mahogany with a finger of head. Big coffee nose with some light caramel. Clean and light bodied with good coffee and chocolate notes throughout. Finishes quick. Nice, easy drinking well-made coffee ale. --- Beer merged from original tick of Shiner Birthday Beer 108 (Cold-Brew Coffee Ale) on 27 Dec 2016 at 21:20 - Score: 7.
