Capped and corked 750 shared by Marcus. Pours gold with a transient white head. Aroma is earthy, woody, pale stone fruity. Near med body. Flavor is slightly sweet/sour pale fruit. Some wood, but not a lot of earth. Seems a bit acidic. Perhaps a bit fruity for a saison. Also a bit acid. Drinkable, but not a "pleasant saison". Call it sour.

750mL bottle, pours a cloudy dark orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of rustic farmhouse yeast and light fruity esters. Flavour is super authentic, with lots of rustic farmhouse yeast upfront, with a touch of fruity esters. Authentic and nicely constructed. Really good.

Bottle pour at Shelton Brothers. Lovely brett-forward nose with lemon zest, gooseberry and some white wine vinous notes. Clean and crisp with champagne-like carbonation. Musty grapes, and pear come though nicely. Tart and bretty, with some light pepper on the finish. Lovely stuff. --- Beer merged from original tick of Central Coast Saison on 30 Oct 2016 at 01:28 - Score: 8

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2016 vintage dating on the cork. Pours hazy golden orange color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big tart lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, green apple, papaya, mango, guava, white wine, peppercorn, hay, straw, leather, oak, funk, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy/funky yeast, oak barrel, and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge tart lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, green apple, papaya, mango, guava, white wine, peppercorn, hay, straw, leather, oak, funk, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Good amount yeast/tannic oak spiciness and moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness on the finish; with lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, green apple, papaya, mango, guava, white wine, peppercorn, hay, straw, leather, oak, funk, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/spicy/acidic yeast, oak barrel, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/sour/spiciness balance, and zero astringent flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, dry, and moderately acidic/tannic/grainy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is an amazing Brett saison! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/spicy/acidic yeast, oak barrel, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and fairly refreshing to drink; even with the moderate acidic/tannic flavors. A highly enjoyable offering.
