Session IPA. bier dat gedryhopped is met Amarillo hop. Dry hoppen houdt in dat hop pas wordt toegevoegd wordt na het gistingsproces. Door deze techniek krijgt het bier veel hopfruitigheid in geur en smaak. Ondanks het lage acholopercentage toch een volle mondmaak.

flesje dankzij ruil met @Edo, bedankt ! helder gouden met schuimige kraag. Aroma is floraal, hop, den, citrus, mout, zoet, fris en fruitig. Smaken zijn matig zoet, redelijk bitter, matig qua sterkte, matig fruitig van citrus en met name meloen tonen. Wat wel opvalt aan dit bier naast het feit dat er voor 4% wel smaak aan zit het en vrij waterige/dunne body heeft. Ik zou dit biertje echter wel graag willen drinken in de warme periode, bv na het sporten ...

Bottle from trade with Bierkoning, many thanks! Leicht trübes goldgelbes Bier mit einer großen weißen Schaumkrone, hohe Karbonisation. Geruch bitter hopfig, fruchtig, grasig. Geschmack leicht grasig fruchtig, mild hopfig, hefig, malzig.

Draft @ GBBF 2014. Pours a hazy yellow color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity spicy yeasty hoppy aroma. Fruity malty spicy yeasty hoppy flavor. Has a fruity malty spicy yeasty hoppy finish.

Bottled (backlog). Hazy goldeny amber colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, citrus, some sweet malts and mild toffeeish notes. Flavour is spices, herbs, toffee, some yeast and mild fruity and floral notes as well. Mellow, but refreshing.

330ml bottle. Hazy amber colour with huge, frothy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Herbal, piney and fruity aroma, some grapefruit, tangerine, caramel malty background. Taste is initially moderately sweet caramel malty and fruity hoppy, notes of red berries, grapes, grapefruit, some pine, later more and more bitter hoppy and with a tendency towards watery, additionally a chalky touch in the finish; too liveley carbonation. Typical Dutch IPA features (lively carbonation, chalky water) decrease the pleasure of enjoying an obviously well composed beer.

Low alcohol IPA, this was actually my first ’session IPA’, with a very thick, yellowish white, very moussy head captured after gushing, leaving lots of lacing on the edges of the glass; colour is a pinkish orange blonde, completely clouded from the start. Aroma mostly reveals fresh, green hops and dry-hopping, impressions of grapefruit, orange peel, tonic water, hemp, black pepper, dried apricot, some banana, some caramel, rosewater, vanilla, freshly grated ginger, white bread. Taste starts with a vivid, sparkling fruitiness, a basket of oranges, peaches, gooseberries and red apples as it were, with lots of citrussy ’fraîcheur’, inevitably thinnish mouthfeel, light caramelly maltiness, very yeasty; from the middle onwards, a dry, resinous, ’green’ hop bitterness kicks in, very citrussy (Amarillo) and aromatic (Sladek, i.e. Saaz-like), building a surprisingly thirst-quenching, long, complex, dry bitter finish. If the American craft breweries invented this style: kudos. What a great idea to capture the essence of an assertive IPA in a low alcoholic beer... I do suspect, however, that this particular example was not intended to be completely cloudy and gushing, so something must have gone wrong, but I really enjoyed this nevertheless.

Hotel Borefts 14. Thanks to 77ships. Pours muddy grey amber with a off white head. Grass and fruit. Little yeast. Dry and bitter. Decent.

Sampled bottle @ Borefts Hotel room. Day #2. Procured @ Speciaal Bier Winkel in Bodegraven. Hazy dark orange, little head. Huge grapefruit, zest, bitter hop nose. Quite bitter taste, fizzy, bitter herbs, bitter orange peel, lots of hops, grass. Drinks quite well, nice.
