The beer. The 'Bot. The legend. This sought-after Double IPA packs in a whole mess of hops in order to churn out a bombastic citrus taste full of orange peel, mildly dank whiffs of pine, and a deceptively easy-flowing flavor. There's just enough haze in this one to satisfy the "Hops Heads" while it's not to bitter/crazy for first-timers to enjoy this fruity brew.

Hops - Columbus, Citra, Simcoe, Mosaic.

Bottle and draught, 3/15/14 and 3/22/14
Fluffy white head tops the the clear golden-orange bodied liquid.
Leafy, citric, highly fruity hops in the nose are immediately buttressed by moderately sweet pale and some seemingly caramel malts. Thankfully they don’t sweeten things too much and combining with the hops provide some very pleasant orange-peach-nectarine-like aromatics. A bit of dryness on the end, growing slightly resinous, and perhaps a touch of alcohol. Aroma strength is moderately strong.
Again more yellow fruits in the flavor, with strong citrus bitterness, a nearly full, creamy mouthfeel thanks to the maltiness and tight carbonation. Gets a little dirty/muddled/yeasty on the finish, and the sweetness could stand to be toned down a touch, but the hop flavor is certainly enjoyable, if somewhat slightly lessened by this maltiness. It’s a thin line, though, if not for all this maltiness, I’d probably be complaining about the high acidity and overly perceivable alcohol....I guess I’m very, very picky when it comes to this style.

6 oz. @ RBNE gathering. Thanks Ernesto987 for giving me some of your ammo out of your craft beer automatic rifle, cheers!! Aroma is grassy, citrus, resin, herbal, spicy scallions. Real awesome aromas with the flavor living up to the nose.

Grapefruit, orange peel, tropical notes upfront. Then the dank hops kick in. Scallions, fresh cut grass, and musty garlic. This finishes dry and with a lingering herbal / grassy finish. I’m glad I waited to try a fresh can. Bold and pungent…. Awesome hop bomb of a DIPA. Cheers to the Connecticut crew!

Pours a bright slightly hazy golden-orange color with a medium white head that evaporates steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, hops and malt. Medium to full body with flavors of grapefruit, hops, pine and toasted malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a lingering citrusy hops aftertaste. Pretty good all around.
