Coffee Milk Stout

A little brewers' magic transforms locally roasted Arabica beans and a variety of specialty malts into a creamy, intense coffee stout. Enjoy before it disappears.

Arabicadabra is brewed with a cold coffee extract made at the brewery using a combination of fair trade, organic Nicaraguan coffee beans and Sumatra coffee beans. Lactose is also used for creaminess (those with dairy allergies or sensitivities should take note). It was inspired by Milchkaffe, another specialty Bell's beer.

Pitch brown color with dark ruby highlights and a dark beige head with great retention. Good lacing. Coffee is the key word here. Strong black coffee nose. Taste follows the nose with a little creamer added. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Just too much coffee flavor for my liking and not enough stout.

Bottle. Black pour with a thin head. Aromas of coffee with coffee and more coffee. Maybe some charcoal and peat too. Flavor is a kind of thin stout with lots of coffee.

12 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown with a small pale beige head. Nose is coffee. Taste is mostly coffee with some lactose notes. Lacks complexity. If you like coffee beers, you'll like this one.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Milwaukee, 11/17/17. Dark brown, thin creamy tan head, fair retention. Aroma of roast and coffee. Kinda weak. The taste is coffee, roast, molasses, vanilla, lactose. Thin, low carbonation. Okay.

Bottle. Dense black with deep garnet edges that throws up a thick mocha head that sticks to the sides of the glass as it falls. Coffee and chocolate aroma. The flavor is a lightly sweet version of the aroma. Nice roasty malts in support.

Rating #3700. Bottle from Wine Warehouse. Pours dark brown, nearly black, with a brown head. Aroma is dark-roast coffee, cream, lactose, chocolate. Flavor is iced coffee, chocolate, coffee beans, lactose sugar. Very nice - not too sweet.

Bottle. Strong latte malt and hay aroma. Black with moderate brown head. Mildly sweet chocolate malt, earthy coffee, and mildly bitter hay flavor. Nice body. Smooth.

12 oz bottle. Pours deep brown to black with a light tan head. Coffee, cocoa, molasses in the aroma. Flavor mainly coffee cocoa, ashy, a bit of molasses. Flavor's good, but I would probably prefer a bit more of it. That said, it's a nice coffee stout.

Pour is a black with a large tan head. Aroma is an intense coffee and with most coffee beers I have I am also getting some peanut butter. Flavor is again a big time rich coffee and I am also getting peanut butter after the swallow. Coffee on top of coffee with a creamy mouthfeel from the lactose. Great coffee flavor on such a low alcohol beer. Having more than one in a evening may keep you up all night.

Pretty good coffee milk stout, heavy on the joe and a little easy on the milk stout notes. Strong acidic coffee courses throughout, adding mild vinous and coffee cherry notes, while a milk chocolate undercurrent mixes with a roasty bitterness and hints of anise and espresso. Killer mocha aroma. Good pour, coming out a deep, dark brown-black with a thin beige head and modest lacing. Texture's on the thin side, a little to watery for my tastes. Still drinkable as hell.
