Tropical aromas of passion fruit, orange, and guava dominate the nose while a big juicy hop flavor and smooth bitterness complement the balance of the beer.

The label says it's an IPA but it's more a fruit beer so it's like they don't know what they want. Aromas are mainly orange with a little bit of resin and pale malt. Flavors are slightly sweet again mainly orange with some guava in the background maybe passion fruit. And a little bitterness. It's okay but I wouldn't want another unless there is no other choice.

Quarantine Beer #152 sampled at home on 05/27/2020. The beer is a slightly hazy orange-gold color with a thin white head that burns away quickly to a film. Short strings of lace. Tropical and floral aroma with wheat and malt notes. Light to medium body with flavors of citrusy and tropical fruit, wheat and biscuit malt flavors. The finish is semi-sweet fruit cocktail and wheat. Decent overall.

12 oz. can.
AROMA: This beer smells delicious! Tropical sweetness with big notes of guava and passionfruit hitting first, followed by some mild orange and grapefruit undertones.
APPEARANCE: Pours a semi-hazy light gold. With a tall, white, frothy head that dissipates very slowly and has excellent lacing. Carbonation is average and that level works well in this beer. Any more or less would throw off the experience.
TASTE: Both bitter and sweet. Flavors of guava, orange, and orange peel come through at the front and then the passionfruit brings up the rear. The finish is long, slightly bitter, with hints of grapefruit.
MOUTHFEEL: Somewhere between thin- and medium-bodied. Texture starts off on the creamy side but the longer you keep it on the tongue the more it edges its way to dry.
OVERALL: I bought this because it was on sale and I was in the mood to try something new. But I really wasn't expecting too much from it (although, I'm not sure why, because I have liked other Terrapin beers that I've tried). However, I have to say, I was actually pleasantly surprised by this beer. The bitter from the IPA pairs nicely with the sweet (but not too sweet) from the fruit flavorings, the aroma is heavenly, the carbonation level works extremely well, and the flavors are bountiful without being overpowering. Additionally, I usually have a problem with flavored beers in that their flavors are either too muted when cold and need to be room temperature in order to appreciate, or have just the right amount of flavor when cold but become overpowering as the beer warms. I give this beer bonus points for being able to have the fruit flavor at a constant level no matter the temperature. Given the tropical flavors and slight bitterness, this beer makes for a great summer beer that is perfect on a hot day!

12 ounce can. Pours a clear golden hue with a medium white head. A big fruity nose. The flavor is perfume, rich sharp tropical fruit, light bready base. A bit unbalanced, but it achieves the goal. Solid.

can, IIRC it doesn't say Krunkles anymore, just Luau POG IPA. I can't say if it's been reformulated or not. It pours mostly clear golden-orange. There's a pleasant aroma of hops with plenty of tropical fruit. The orange and guava are especially obvious to me. It has a tasty, tropical fruit flavor with at most moderate hops bitterness. Medium bodied, this is a very good beer.

Draft. Clear golden body with a short, white head. Aroma of tropical fruit, orange juice, citrus. Not much aroma in the way of malts. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter and lightly acidic. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Fruity tasteβ mango, pineapple, orange β but it doesn't hit you between the eyes with it which it seems it should if it's a luau.
