Rustic Blonde Ale with Grapefruit. Combining Fresh Grapefruit Juice, Zest and Puree adds a new level of refreshment to our Rustic Blonde Ale – Table. Followed up with a special blend of Mittlefruh, Saaz, and Mandarina Bavaria hops, this beer finishes crisp and dry with just the right amount of fruit on the finish.

16 ounce can into tulip glass; no can dating, but is a recent release. Pours slightly hazy medium golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lightly tart ruby red grapefruit, lemon, lime, citrus peel/zest, orange, peach, pear, pineapple, red apple, melon, peppercorn, clove, pine, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, spicy rye bread, light musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/funky/spicy yeast, grapefruit juice/zest, citrus/earthy hops, and moderate pale/rye malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lightly tart ruby red grapefruit, lemon, lime, citrus peel/zest, orange, peach, pear, pineapple, red apple, melon, peppercorn, clove, pine, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, spicy rye bread, light musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy bitterness; peppery yeast/rye spiciness; and slight fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart ruby red grapefruit, lemon, lime, citrus peel/rind, orange, peach, pear, pineapple, red apple, melon, peppercorn, clove, pine, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, spicy rye bread, light musty funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/spicy yeast, grapefruit juice/zest, citrus/earthy hops, and moderate pale/rye malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance; and no astringent flavors after the finish. Moderate increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly acidic/tangy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is a very nice fruited table saison. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/spicy yeast, grapefruit juice/zest, citrus/earthy hops, and moderate pale/rye malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink; with the moderately bitter/spicy/drying finish. Very flavorful for the low ABV. Great balance of citrus/earthy hops, grapefruit juice/zest, and Brett/saision yeast complexity; with a nice pale/rye malt backbone. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Can from Winetree East. Pours a clearish hay color with two fingers of white foam that lingers. Light clove and faint sulphur on the nose with some leafy hops. Palate is better with clove, wheat and light grapefruit notes. Mineral water, spritzy carbonation. Finish has some grapefruit pith and seed astringency with some leafy hops and a hint of sulphur. Not bad, but I enjoy the base beer for what it is. --- Beer merged from original tick of Pample Mousse on 25 Aug 2018 at 17:32 - Score: 7.
