pFriem’s Oude Kriek is made by adding lush, juicy cherries grown right up the road, to our year-old Lambic-inspired ale and letting them get to know each other for another ten months. Judging from the aromas of fruity, nuttiness and bright flavors of cherry pie and berries with a dry, tangy finish, they’re a perfect match.

On tap at The Loyal Legion, pours a hazy bright pinkish red with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of funk along with tart cherries. Flavour is fairly funky, with lots of tart cherries and moderate funk. Complex and surprisingly authentic. Excellent.

Bottle share on 6/11/16. Pours a nice mahogany with a small wispy head. Cherries up front, as expected for a kriek. Taste doesn’t depart, although this also very tart, but more fresh fruit than candy sweet.

Bottle share. Pours a dark reddish color with a small head. Nose is full of sweet and tart cherries. Taste mostly sweet, some mild sour/tart bits. The fruit is wonderful, very fresh, sweet and tart. Some bugs in there too. Very nice.

On tap at the brewery. They are calling it a lambic, hard to say. Anyway, the beer is fantastic. Pours a deep reddish copper color with a small white head. A huge cherry nose. Oak, sour cherries, dominant sweet cherry flesh, spicy and flavorful. One hell of a kriek.
