12oz bottle thanks to Steve. Pours out a brown topped with a sand head. Nose is pit fruit toffee bourbon barrel. Taste is more of the pit fruit toffee caramel sweetness and some bourbon barrel notes.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 2/1/2017. Pours fairly crystal clear deep reddish copper color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, raisin, plum, fig, date, apple, bourbon, toasted oak, and brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, leather, tobacco, peat smoke, roast, herbal, floral, and oak/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready/light roasted malt, bourbon barrel, and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, raisin, plum, fig, date, apple, bourbon, toasted oak, and brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, leather, tobacco, peat smoke, roast, herbal, floral, and oak/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/floral bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, dark fruit, light coconut/smoke, and oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malt, bourbon barrel, and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light dryness from bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness as well. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and slightly silky/sticky/chalky/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 8.7%. Overall this is a very nice Scotch ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malt, bourbon barrel, and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. Very well rounded malt complexity with nice barrel presence; and never overly fruity/yeasty. Nice richness for the ABV as well. A very enjoyable offering.
