Bottle thanks to Chow. Pours a cloudy rose gold with small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is funk, oak, cherry skin, floral. Medium body, funky, cherry skin, oak, light tartness, very good.

Sample from a bottle. Pours pink and cloudy, with a small, beige head. The nose is a light, pleasant raspberry, with some cream, yogurt, and cloves. Sweet and fruity, with a nice tartness. Light to medium body, crisp and acidic, with a sharp bite. This is a solid, fruity sour.

Draught at the Belgian Beer Fest, 9/17/16.
Deep, cherry-crimson, good clarity and lighter rose hues, with a pink-flecked, off-white head that is medium sized and shows moderate to low retention.
Continuing with the very fruit-forward/fruit-dominant theme of the Pfriem fruit beers, this one is full of boisterous raspberry in the nose. Though thankfully, here I finally find a lot more beer quality than the blueberry and kumquat. Actual malt structure, as well as oak, sit in the background and the raspberries are pretty nicely attenuated, it seems, based on the nose. Vanilla and pepper notes abound from the seed and perhaps malt and yeast. Definite oak noticeable, though it’s not overdone. Very jammy and full, aromatic nose with no alcohol or flaw.
In the mouth, it has a substantial, malty body replete with a raspberry jam character and picks up ample sourness, very light funk and both toasted oak and nutty tannin. Engaging carbonation and no alcohol or flaw. Needs far more yeast/bacteria character, but it’s the best sour ale from Pfriem I’ve had so far and has good carbonation and malt depth.

375ml bottle thanks to Toby. Pours out pink topped with a small head. Nose is great nice seedy raspberry some rich jam and tartness. Taste is more of the raspberry jam with some prickly pucker tartness another home run for pfriem.

Bottle courtesy of Robert. Pours hazy reddish orange with a small white head that leaves some sparse trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is heavy fruity with caramel, fresh raspberries, hay, minerals, rubber, green apples, lemon zest and hints of balsamic vinegar. Taste is tiny sweet, sour and fruity. Mouthfeel is dry, tart and light to medium bodied. Finish is sour with green apples, raspberries, leather and hints of vinegar. Nice raspberry character but pretty musty and full apart from that. --- Beer merged from original tick of Frambozen on 29 Jul 2016 at 18:11 - Score: 7. Original review text: Very nice raspberry character. The rest is the same as the kriek. Bit too musty and green apple heavy.

On tap at Farmhouse Festival Vancouver, pours a cloudy amber orange with a small white head. Aroma smells amazing, with authentic barnyard funk like a lambic and pithy raspberries. Flavour isn't quite as lambic-y, with barnyard funk, fresh pithy raspberries and light lacto acidity. Not quite as complex as the nose suggests, but still really nicely constructed. Pretty close to resembling an authentic lambic.
