Die alten Hamburger Schifferbiere des 15. Jahrhunderts wurden als starke, hopfenbetonte Biere mit viel Stammwürze eingebraut, um den feinen Tropfen haltbarer zu machen. Voilá: Der Vorläufer des India Pale Ales war geboren. Frisch von der Hamburger Westküste kommt heute nun unser IPA. Ein bissiges, naturbelassenes Bier. Fruchtig und exotisch mit Aromen von Pfirsich, Papaya und Orange. Immer richtig, nicht nur bei Hai Alarm!

Hop resin nose. Clear pale amber, tall frothy off-white head, good retention, good lacing. Aroma pale malts, light citrus, resinous, pine. Smooth taste, medium sweet and bitter, malty, piney, light fruity. Mild fruity sweetbitter aftertaste, dusty hops, finishes dry bitter. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, very nice mellow and solid IPA.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear, dark golden with a lacing, white head. Fresh, peachy aroma. Medium body, extremely soft on the palate, a hint of caramel, but in a dry sense. There’s a slightly metallic edge that I’m not overly fond of. Dry, hoppy finish. If not exactly exceptional it’s pretty solid. 030116

05.11.2016/17.12.2016 -- 0.33l bottle from marktkauf/edeka. pours a slightly hazy pale amber with a big white head and a nice lacing. aroma of fruity hops, sweet malts, honey, peaches, a hint of tobacco/leather. flavour of grapefruit and grains. creamy mouthfeel.
