Fruity notes from imported Belgian yeast swirl through a precise souring. Pucker up to a bite of citrus laden tang ending with a delectable experience.

This review was imported from my RateBeer ratings.

12 oz. can.

AROMA: Slightly sweet and yeasty. There are very (and I mean VERY) subtle hints of lemon, but you really have to search for it.

APPEARANCE: Pours a clear, straw-gold with a minimal white head that dissipates VERY quickly (don't blink or you'll miss it!).

TASTE: First sip and you get flavors akin to the SweetTarts candy from my youth. Hold it on the tongue and it starts to taste more like a hard cider. However, the "sour" portion has a somewhat chemical taste to it, which I find slightly off-putting. Flavors of lemon and apple come through if you let the beer warm up a bit.

MOUTHFEEL: It is very dry on the palate. It is thin-bodied with a sticky/tacky texture. The finish is long and all about the sour.

OVERALL: If someone handed this to me, sight unseen, I would never in a million years guess that it was a Belgian Tripel, much less that it was 9.5% ABV. As with most sours that I've tried the sour seems to be there just for the sake of being sour, and really doesn't complement the base beer in any way, shape, or form. I've had a few sours whose marrying of sour and the characteristics of the base beer, were superb. So I know it is possible to create a great sour beer. However, this is not one of those outstanding sours. Instead, it is just another run of the mill sour that really doesn't stand out from the crowd, other than its high ABV.

Keg at Draft House Seething, 12/12/19. Clear golden blonde with a decent white cap. Nose is big on citric sherbets, funk, faint yeast, straw, lime zest. Taste comprises candied fruit peel, soured citric zest, lemon rind, hint of pear drop, grass, light funk, trace of yeast, mellow acidic bite. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a mellow pucker. Decent for the ABV ... a fair refreshing drink for a 9% job.

Bottle from a Giant Supermarket. Clear gold in colour, with a thin, white, head. Aroma of tart fruits some citrus hops. Flavour had more fruit, some vinous richness, light malts, and a subtle, semi-sour finish. Enjoyable.

Bottle at Frisches Bier München, Wednesday 28th August 2019 in the company of the München RB group. Pours a hazy gold with a white head, a little yeasty sediment sits in the bottom. Very fruity and tangy with a zippiness, it's a Tripel but the Brett really confuses the tastebuds, really good.
