Pours virtually black from the bottle and leaves a creamy, tan head. Aroma is used coffee grounds. Taste is mildly bitter with both coffee and dark chocolate notes. The overall combination left an odd peppery note in the mouth - as though I was eating a raw bell pepper on the side. Medium bodied. Was served to me a bit colder than I would like and thus a rerate candidate. Rerated 05/17. Tasted plenty of coffee, less bell pepper. Overall score and impression unchanged.

Bottle from the Wine Boutique in Felixstowe, and shared at the 3rd Ipswich bottle share. Pours a deep purple brown colour with a thin beige head. Aroma of blackberry, coffee, winter berries and dark fruit. Curious sweetness and no descernible bitterness. Medium body but weak texture. Soft carbonation. Bitter finish, with some light roasted coffee. Didn’t enjoy this one much.

Draught. Inky dark brown with small beige foamy head, coffee aroma, low carbonation, thin body, bitter roasted malt taste, long roasted finish. Very nice, but a bit on the burnt side.

Bottle. A- Black coffee. A- Black color, black liquid, tan head. T- Watery coffee, cocoa, roasty, slightly dry. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish. O- Not near as much coffee as I thought there would be. Very roasty and a tad watery. It’s not bad, but in my opinion it’s not where it should be. I loved Koko Brown and thought this would be a step up. It’s the other way around. Good beer but some fine tuning and more coffee would make it great.

Bottle. Aroma is roasted malts with cocoa/coffee. Appearance is dark brown with small head. Taste is mild combination of sweet cocoa and roasted coffee bitterness. Palate is light bodied with creamy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a pretty mellow beer. Not knock your socks off but a chill, relaxing, smooth, slow porter.

Pours a deep dark brown from a bottle. Surprisingly, the nose is full of roasted coffee. Flavor is similar, some chocolate malt. Quite thin in the mouth. Okay beer.
