One cold January (2012) Sunday afternoon I visited the brewpub and tried all four beers available: this being the second. I also believe this beer has other names when it suits the brewer. It came semi-cloudy in a tall handled glass containing 0.3 litres, the head an off-white cap of bubbles, body wise the colour was amber/brown. The smell was of mildly sweet malts and hints of yeast, I had to take a sniff of the Hell my wife had, just to make sure: because the Dunkel had the same aroma as my last beer (the Hell). I think this beer has a bit more chocolate malt, or something similar to give it a darker colour and extra sweetness. You may as well read my Hell review because the beers are very, very similar apart from their looks and the Dunkel being slightly sweeter. Alcohol content is also 4.9% ABV, just like the Hell.

At a tasting, thanks Rotem, smallish head, clear very light coppery colour, aroma of honey drops and straw, candy flavour with strong musty notes. Unappealing and quite bad.
