Strong beer, belgian yeast flavours. All around good, but the balance with the malt is just a little too weak. D&S dresden

Bottle. Darkest red chestnut, low offwhite head. Oxidized leather and wood, nuts, rose hip. Medium full mellow body. Creamy mellow mouthfeel. Cherry wood, dark chocolate cake, roast, copper, dry finish, algae retronasal. Sticky oxidized sweetness. Ok, not worth its premium price though.

Bottle. Opaque brown color with beige head. Aroma is molasses, a bit oxidized, iron, chocolate. Taste is molasses, chocolate, a touch iron, dry mineralic finish. Mineralic chalkyish mouthfeel with low carbonation. Alright.

Dark brown. Aroma is some roast caramel toffee syrup butter a whiff of herbs. Well rounded. Taste is heavy sweet syrup with roasty bitterness. Low carbonation oily on the tongue. Not too heavy. Quite balanced. I like it more with more roast texture and dried fruit. Still pretty nice.

Bottle, 33cl. Intransparent deep brown colour. Minimal head. Aroma: lots of raisins and nuts, dates, figs, toasted malts, port wine. Fine. Medium to full body. Sweet yet complex malty richness on tongue. Same nuances as with aroma. Balancing bitterness at finish. Delicious doppelbock. A perfect slow sipper.

660ml bottle. Opaque, darkest brown colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Rather weak, sweet-ish, dark malty aroma, notes of malt lozenge. Taste is mellow dark malty, notes of malt lozenge, hints of treacle, dark caramel. Not really watery, but a bit light and thin; sweet, minimally tacky finish. Easy drinkable, too sweet though.

0.33l bottle from rewe in lörrach, 2.49€. pours a clear mahogany with a dense beige head. aroma of nuts, prunes, toasted malts. flavour of raisins, nuts, vanilla, some coffee. 0.33 is ok, more would have been a bit too cloying.
