Hazy medium golden colour, huge frothy white head, slowly collapsing, heavy lacing. Aroma pale malts, lemon, orange, light pine, grass. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, grainy, lemon, light grapefruit, grassy, pine resin. Mild sweetbitter aftertaste, grainy touch, spicy notes, medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Subtle lager, refreshing and well-made, very nice.

33cl Bottle from Rudat for 1€. Floral nose. The beer starts quite fresh and floral. Grainy in the back, pine and citrus resin on top. Grainy and fresh floral aftertaste. Nice but typical floral lager.

F: big, white, good retention. C: blonde to pale gold, hazy. A: citrus, floral, bit tropical fruits, bit spicy, hoppy. T: malty backbone, light citrus, orange, floral, decent bitterness, coriander, light oily mouthfeel, not tastes as lager but enjoyable beer for sure, medium body and carbonation, 33cl bottle from Albert Heijn Duinenwater supermarket in Knokke.

Taste is medium sweet malt, biscuity and bit bready, medium- grassy and herbal hops, like drinking a not all that fresh hop pellet smoothie, medium- bitterness, dryish finish. Malty, grainy, bready, lightly hoppy, grassy. Something herbal stands out, otherwise sweet. Light body, moderate carbonation, light to moderate lasting balanced finish. Good.

Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, hay, moderate hoppy, grass, sweet hops. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration, frutiy malt, pale malt, sweet malt, hay - grass, fruity hops. Bottle. Color: Orange golden, very big frothy white head. Taste: Very hoppy lager, citrus and flowery hops, malt. Like a schizophrenic lager that wants to be an IPA also. But the result is neither of them... Still pretty good for a premium lager.

Apparently a commissioned Molen, bottle from an Albert Heijn supermarket, freely 'for sale' there. "Craft lager", the label says, so I'm kind of hoping for something IPL-like... Let's see: medium thick, off-white, irregularly lacing head leaving behind a firm moussy ring and some flat 'islands' in the middle, lightly hazy peach blonde robe with noble 'old gold' (orangey) hue. Fruity, bit dank aroma of moist white pepper, dried yellow grapefruit peel, soggy white bread or even a tad old biscuit, lavender, lots of old coriander seed, stale sweat, camomile tea, acacia honey, chewing gum, peardrops, potato mash, clove-like phenols, hints of orange rind, dried fibrous mango flesh, soapy fresh lime or even bath foam in the end, hard green banana, gypsum, wet dog. Crisp onset, sweetish and sourish in more or less equal proportions with hints at unripe banana and dito peach, green pear and slight pineapple, pleasant enough and considerably more expressive than what one tends to expect from a lager, but sharply carbonated as well, with more sourishness than necessary and outspoken minerally effects. Cereally, sharpishly grainy malt middle, a tad oily here and there, 'malt fruity', a bit biscuity perhaps but only distantly so; hoppiness is apparent fairly early on, very floral (camomile) with zesty, vaguely marijuana- and stewed onion-like accents to it retronasally, whilst adding elementary, softly drying, bit leafy bitterness to the rounded - yet still thinnish and cereally - maltiness in the centre. Ends quite spritzy and juicy, but still this residual sweetness keeps lingering, more so than it befits for the intended style. Refreshing alright (though perhaps a bit overcarbonated) and aromatic enough, but in view of De Molen's earlier accomplishments, I guess I expected a bit more 'oomph'. Still a decent enough alternative to standardized pale lager or indeed Belgian amber (anyone still drinks that?) or blonde. I'm sure coriander has been applied here, though, and I cannot help but keep wondering: why? And be honest, is this really bottom-fermented? "Craft lager" (whatever that may mean) feeling more like an English special bitter, really, though definitely not 'tropical' or expressive enough to qualify as an IPL. So what is this then? Nobody really knows I think, but everything considered, not a bad beer at all (in the generic sense of the word), considering it comes from a supermarket shelf...
