Of all German beers, Uerige Alt has the highest content of bitter constituents. In spite of – or maybe because of – this, our legendary Altbier from Düsseldorf is full-bodied, aromatic, and agreeable.
Our top-fermented specialty has been brewed since 1862, and is made of barley malt, caramel malt, roasted malt, umbel hops, water – and our unique Uerige yeast.
Our Uerige Alt regularly ranks amongst the top ten beers of Germany. It has an alcohol content of 4.7% abv and a minimum shelf life of eight weeks.

Clear darker amber with a foamy fluffy head. Metal, roasted malt, some caramel, iron, grapefruit zest. Metallic bitterness, some malty sweetness. Medium to light bodied, oily watery texture, lively carbonated, dry metallic malty roasty bitter finish. A tasty Altbier!

Malty, nice mouth feel, but I couldn’t get past the distinct cough syrup flavor

Bottled. Wow, altbiers always sort of amaze me, it’s like what the helll is this supposed to taste like? Dark brown lots of head, weird alty taste. How did those dusseldorfers come up with this?

Bottle. Love these kind of bottles. I’m sure it leads to a higher cost. Still, it is an excellent beer. At 4.7% it is the best tasting lower alcohol beers I have ever had. Highly recommend it.

This bottle is coming from Tanta Emmen, Paris. Best before 06/24. Opening this old style bottle, yesrerday, at night, on the balcony, coming from Luzern. Classical altbier, really enjoyable way to brew. This one was light, a bit watery, dry, toffee, hop.

500ml bottle.
Clear, deep, copper pour, big, puffy, beige head. Dark, caramel biscuit, toasted cereal aroma with some grassy hops, and some floral fruit. The finish is quite bitter, and also quite fruity. Loads of great malts, toasted cereals, some nuttiness. Man, this is an Alt! Awesome stuff. Now i understand the description of german equivalent to an english ale.
