Our top-fermented specialty has been brewed since 1862, and is made of barley malt, caramel malt, roasted malt, umbel hops, water – and our unique Uerige yeast.

Our Uerige Alt regularly ranks amongst the top ten beers of Germany. It has an alcohol content of 4.7% abv and a minimum shelf life of eight weeks.

Hervorragendes düsseldorfer Altbier, deutlich hopfenbetont mit charakteristisch kräftiger Bittere.

From tap at Uerige. A rather bitter Alt with fruity notes, caramel malt aroma. Sweetish flavour and pretty bitter. Body is almost medium. A fine Atlbier.

On tap at Uerige, pours a clear dark amber with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out plenty of bready malt, toasted caramel, and pronounced bitterness. Flavour is very bitter, with a deep, dry bready malt body, not a trace of sweetness, and a sharp bitterness finish. Very pleasant classic alt that I'm surprised I never rated.

Quite a bit more bitter than Zum Schlüssel. A bit more satisfactory. The service is less good, though.
