Brown ale with a sweet malt aroma, and roasted notes. Very sweet roasty taste, with molasse notes. Rich bodied and viscous in mouth.

50 cl bottle. Rated on 01.06.2010
Dark, orange-red colour, very thick and disappearing head. Sweet aroma with lots of butter, malty bread. Some stinging carbonation on palate. Flavour is sweet with malty bread, some butter and hints of chocolate. A bit too sweet but good anyway.

On tap, Hackerhaus, Munich. Our last beer in Munich Starkbierzeit, but one of the best. A very compley body, oily texture, sweet malty aroma, and a longtasting warm aftertaste.

Pours ruby/dark amber with a small fading head.Nose shows lots of caramel, bready malt and melanoidins. Pretty nice stuff.Very similar flavours, bready malt and melanoidins really dominating. Also a fair whack of booze.Nice syrupy body. Carbonation could be a bit higher.

500ml bottle, about 14C. Amber with a beige head that fades. Aroma has toffee, nuts, grass and spiced fruit cake. Slightly syrupy body. Taste has rich sweet malts and prominent alcohol with a fair bitter kick. The booze and hops get in the way of enjoying the malt. Improves as it warms to room temperature, but I found the alcohol and bitterness a bit out of whack for this sort of beer. I’ll be sticking to Salvator from this brewery.

50cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Hazy amber colour, creamy off white head. Aroma of honeyed muesli, caramel, some alcohol, sweet and malty. Flavour is sweet, soft caramel malts, raisins, a bit of port wine, some alcohol in the bitter malty finish. Soft and slick mouthfeel, medium to fullbodied. Really good stuff, not unlike Paulaner Salvator.

Clear amber with a medium off white head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, caramel, grassy hops, toffee and breadish. Sweet flavour with toasted malt, caramel, grassy hops, toffee and marzipan notes. Finished sweet though the hops kicked in some bitterness.
