Dense yellow head, vanishing quite fast, and very hazy brown/orange colour. Smells bread, malt, and little alcohol. Taste is not the usual sweet for a doppelbock, but it’s quite hoppy, of course smoky, roasted, but with a nice bitter finish. Low carbonation, and alcohol is present, but ok. A nice one in this gender, I liked it better than usual.

Bottle at Bayernhaus, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a slightly cloudy murky reddish brown with a thin broken tan head. The aroma is rich and malty, leading to a flavour of pure malt and liqourice. The high alcohol content is evident and that’s where much of the bitterness comes from but it’s not overpowering.

Light red-brown colour. Strong aroma of caramel and malts. Some herbal notes too. Flavour is very sweet and warming. Some fruity malt loaf characterisitcs and a slightly numbing finish of aniseed or clove. Very rich, silky feel.

Bottle, 200 cl swingtop, at TFODRBSG-12. A semi-clear, copper colored beer with a dense, finger-thick off-white to light beige head. Malty on the nose, some dried fruits, caramel and a pleasant hoppyness. Pleasant caramel maltyness in the flavor, although a bit thin on the palate considering it’s a doppelbock. Dried fruits, a fine bitterness and some grassy hints too. Full to medium body, pleasant carbonation, and a lasting caramel maltyness. Sure a tasteful one, well suited to drink with the BBQ meal, or on its own. 120818
